“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.”

-Orhan Pamuk

Our Values

At Pack Harmony, we believe that positive reinforcement is the basis of good communication between your dog and yourself, and good communication leads to a harmonious home. We believe in the LIMA training method, which stands for “least intrusive, minimally aversive.” This means that when we are training a dog, we will avoid using punishment in lieu of other effective methods. While seemingly effective from the outside, punitive training methods rarely get to the heart of the true issue, and may cause a rift in your relationship with your dog. We believe that by examining the dog's environment and mental/physical well being, we can create a much more effective training approach using operant and classical methods like desensitization or counter conditioning to address the issue. There are times when these methods yield slower results than punitive methods do, but by getting to the heart of the issue and using methods that build relationship, LIMA training tactics yield stronger and longer lasting results. Plus, the trust being built between you and your dog will help with additional training in the future!

    Remy

    THE PARTY

Remy is our GSD/Mini Aussie boy! He was found in a dumpster as a puppy, and came to us as a foster. He quickly turned into a foster fail, and we are so happy he is part of our family. Bursting with energy, Remy loves fetch, his humans, and all of his dog friends.

With Remy, we are working on his excitability, and inability to regulate his emotions. (When you drop by our house, his is the barking you will most often hear.) We are helping Remy stay calm and in control by positively reinforcing desired behaviors, and making sure he has a balanced week of exercise and rest.

  • A tri-color corgi with a tail and one blue eye runs on the beach towards the camera. His is smiling and his tongue is hanging out of his mouth. He is wearing a seafoam bandana.

    Taika

    THE BRAINS

Taika is a tri-color corgi who is half blue merle (which is where he gets his blue eye!) We love his fluffy tail, his love of sticks far larger than himself, and his goofy play time personality.

With Taika, we are working on his fear based aggression with lots of positive reinforcement, desensitization, and muzzle training. These methods help Taika stay calm and communicate his needs in a healthy way.
